Kubilai the Hyrkanian seeks skilled artisans for a bold experiment:

Beautify the Exiled Lands while defying those who would oppress us!

After much exploration, I have discovered a plateau, unclaimed by any, protected from the privations of vicious cannibals, hyenas, and killer emus (heh). I have laid down the initial foundations of what will, I hope, one day be a mighty artisan's guild. I have named it the Four Winds Crafthall, after the great sky god of the Hyrkanians.

I wish to open my property to others, and forge a mighty craft hall made up of free men and woman, artisans all. I seek only masters, driven to serve their inner desire to shape rock, stone, wood, leather, and bone. Visionaries dedicated to revealing the inner beauty and function of the natural world.

In my old life, before the Bracelet and the Cross, I toiled for the benefit of highborn Lords and Ladies, and was rewarded with little beyond the scraps from their tables. I will never be another man's vassal ever again. Those who exiled us have forced us to make a new life for ourselves in a land beyond their rules and their laws... I say we truly do so! What I make... what WE make... together... will be ours to give, share, or sell. We shall do it as brothers and sisters of the craft, standing as the gods intended: together, as equals. All will be shared: work, responsibility, and, yes, when the time is right, profits.

If you have mastered the plumb and the level, the adze and the saw, or, yes, the Riddle of Steel, and find my dream of a new, better world enticing, then seek me out. I have built my hall in the Village of Saoirse, just below the eastern wall of the Forbidden City, where it runs close to the central river. If you seek to be a craftsman, and to build a better life than one of blood, sweat, and tears, come, and be welcome, and learn the answer to the Riddle of Steel.

In Hyrkania, we say that Erlik, God of the Yellow Hand of Death and Tamer of the Four Winds, tempers man like a raw steel blade. His tools are adversity, strife, and eventually death. In the Exiled Lands, we all shall be tempered, or fail in the forge.

But there can also be beauty in this harsh, unforgiving land... I know it.

I know it.

Now come, and help me build it.

CRAFTHALL/ SAOIRSE GUILD RULES (updated/streamlined May 1, 2017):

1. Your concept must be centered around living in a village (Saoirse), and, if you desire membership in the Crafthall, must also feature building/crafting - can be any of the in-game systems, and is totally up to the player. Specializations giving a IC explanation for the title of "Master Craftsman" are encouraged.

2. All members of the Guild are equal partners - we share in the work, the chores, and, one day, the profits. (IC, this means you are expected to build a workshop at the Four Winds Crafthall or somewhere inside the village of Saoirse tailored to your specialty, and perform all your crafting work there for all to see. You can also, if you desire, use your workshop also as living quarters.

3. Slavery is forbidden for all Crafthall members, and we feel that it is our sacred duty to liberate craftsmen and -women from the bonds of servitude wherever we find them. (IC, we explain thralls as either "apprentices", or that we "liberated" craftspeople from slavery and brought them the Crafthall to start a new life. Our wheels will be OOC, and when the thralls they produce are ready, they will become "Associate (NPC) Crafthall Members who we will use for our own crafting stations, or to offer up "for hire" to others, making them swear that they will be treated with the respect that they are due as artists and human beings. Hence, Guild members are discouraged from setting up private wheels, or in participating in IC story arcs featuring slavery. As soon as possible, we will build an "Apprentice Hall" at the site of the Crafthall large enough to hide a Greater Wheel (for OOC use). It is my desire for this policy to, eventually, lead to new RP opportunities stemming from conflict over issues like our Guild's refusal to allow our "Associate Members" to be hired out to other groups known for keeping/selling actual slaves, responding to reports of our associates being mistreated by their employers, etc. :)

4. The following disciplines are recognized by the Crafthall; each discipline shall have an elected Craftmaster:

* Stonecraft (all building mats)
* Woodcraft (all furniture/decorative crafts including banners and doors)
* Wesponsmithing (all weapons)
(IC, this is how I'm building my own characyer FYI)]
* Armorsmithing (all armors)
(IC, this is my own character's secondary skill)
* Blacksmithing (all reinforcements and, it is assumed, horse-related items when they add mounts).
* Weaver/Clothier (all non-armor gear (like Zingarian Dancer's outfits) and dyes)


(IC, you will be asked to chose a "specialty" and a "secondary" when joining - you are expected to be unlocking the skill tree for your specialty and secondary as you go, based on your own IC story and goals. Anyone wanting to apply for the title of Craftmaster is expected to have ALL the skills in their tree unlocked (so all T3 building mats if you want to go for Stonecraft for example), and is expected to show (in game) examples of their skill (so actual buildings you've made showing a range of techniques for Stonecraft, again for example).

Wonderful idea! I wish we could have multiple characters! In the meantime, I know Adira will visit the crafthall/shops often :)

Posted our very first IC recruiting effort HERE - please take a look and if this sounds interesting LMK!

I'm also planning on attending the RP "hot spots" as soon as I can to make new social in-roads with everyone - sorry, it's been a real handfull setting everything up for the clan on my own -lots more effort than I expected... I literally don't know how you solo people with fancy houses/bases do it, I really don't (I probably just suck as a player...) :P

CLAN UPDATE (Edited April 20, 2017):

THE CRAFTHALL HAS CHANGED ALLIANCES AND RELOCATED AS OF THURS. APRIL 20!

Kublai is thrilled to accept the invitation of the leaders of Saoirse (http://bonesofacheron.shivtr.com/forum_threads/2654014) to relocate the Crafthall to that location!!

Effective immediately, the Crafthall has been relocated to the site marked on the map below: we are now located on the west bank of the central river just beside the village's new Bath House. Pictures of the new structure will be posted soon!

Please note that the old Crafthall complex near Red Sands Arena will be RAZED TO THE GROUND BY YOGG as soon as the admins can find time and should be considered abandoned and empty - (please do not raid any of the chests or crafting stations as the materials are considered to me moved to Saiorse IC as of the time of this posting).

The Crafthall is still, as always, looking for players wanting to explore crafters (and now traders!) as a character concept, and the Villiage of Saiorse still has a bit more room for players looking for a "town" experience - if either concept seems appealing please contact me in-game or in Discord!
